My very well loved friend said this to me recently after hearing my response to his typical Monday question:
"How was your weekend?"
Yes, its true that since my break up (and riding Emotional Rollercoaster of this new reality) I have been busying myself with things to do. However, things don't include whoring myself out - don't get it twisted #wordtoKeithSweat.
Anyone who knows me at all would consider me a reserved, bougie, alcoholic with no patience and respect for my body.....its been almost 7 months - don't cry for me Argentina.
I took, what I consider a great amount of time before even entertaining much dating (Woooo dating, more one that its loaded - but not how you think), I don't sleep around and haven't been to much of a club/bar outside of my concerts at the Shrine.
My activities -
- Attend church
- Running/Walking/Jogging
- Work
- Concerts
- Friends House Party
- Brunch/Restaurant Outings alone
- Shopping
- Volunteering
- Drinking Wine

Yep....that good life right there.
Seriously - as a single, child free, responsible, working woman knocking on 30 how are any of the activities listed above running the streets? Because I am not in a relationship I should STOP living? i.think.not. In my opinion it means I should be LIVING even more, taking advantage of this time without kids or a husband. Before the compromises and thinking of others come back into my life. Finally I understand what the older women mean saying "Be Selfish and Enjoy This Time" F.I.N.A.L.L.Y
Its so double-edged sword too, on one hand you "running the streets" gets a negative adjective however "you can't find a man being home" and "no one wants someone with no business" are also looked at almost as negatively. Being single ain't easy, but Ive learned being human someone will always have their opinion.
