Job Opportunity?

So I work for a pretty large company with a HUGE reputation - NOW.

I have made it through two bank acquisitions and maintained my time in service for five years (recently celebrated in May). Now I have not always had this same position and pretty much climbed grade by grade with each acquisition, finally landing my current title in May of 2010 after being given a letter of possible displacement earlier that year.Initially I really enjoyed this position because learning new things is fun and was I always busy, until now (hence my activity on this blog lately) and find myself not very excited about doing this day in and day out. Plus this gig is literally 15mins from my house. I mean everyone gets a slow period but this is ridiculous and I actually would like to come to work and WORK cause I don't know any better, right? lol.

ANYWHO - An opportunity has come up and I applied for it and will be interviewed next week. However, as an internal employee the recruiter is suppose to send an email to my current manager informing her of my interest in another position yet I haven't told my manager yet. Today we have a one on one and I have to tell her about this prospective job opportunity.

My hang up is basically (over analyzing the whole thing) and her holding this against me if I do not get the job and have to continue in this current role.....any advice on how to break it to her? Can she actually hold it against me if I don't get this position
